The Charles County Garden Club will host the Maryland House & Garden Pilgrimage on May 18, 2013. War of 1812, From Benedict to Bryantown, Then & Now

Featuring homes and gardens from the War of 1812 era to present.

Time: 10a.m.-5.p.m

Day of event information center, American Legion Post 238, 6265 Brandywine Rd, Hughesville

The Tour will travel down back roads in the county to include Maxwell Hall (possible occupation by British officers), The Caleb W. Jones Skipjack at Rivers Edge Restaurant, Old Field's Chapel (site of 2 unmarked British graves), Todd Connick's Zacharia Crossing, a vineyard and home and 6th generation farm, The Manor of Truman's Place (built by 1812 veteran), Wiltshire Plains, The Cedars (Evergreen) and a garden in Zekiah Valley.
