Special Engagement - - Port Tobacco River Park Open House

Saturday, October 28, 2017
9 a.m. - Noon

Location: Port Tobacco River Park / Tom Roland Natural Resource Area, 7685 Chapel Point Road, Port Tobacco

Explore Charles County’s newest park and visit displays provided by our co-sponsors including the Port Tobacco River Conservancy, Southern Maryland Audubon Society, the Charles County Extension Service-Master Gardeners, and Charles County Tourism.
 
Join us for a guided bird and native plant hike, or come along for our children’s nature craft walk. Both activities begin at 9:30 a.m. Autumn crafts, refreshments, and giveaways will be provided by the Parks and Grounds Division. Come meet Olivia Floyd, Port Tobacco's Civil War spy. Learn how to decipher secret codes, play historic games, and hear the Legend of the Blue Dog. The faithful hound might even make an appearance along the river.

Did you know that George Washington was not the first president? Come learn about this little know man from Port Tobacco who was President under the Articles of Confederation.

Author John J. Cummings will speak inside the Courthouse on Saturday at 11 a.m. “First President John Hanson”

Step into our Colonial Christmas at Stagg Hall.  Bring your camera and have photos taken in the holiday decorated Merchant Taproom.  We will also have several seasonal crafts to help decorate your home.
