February 13, 2017 Public Hearing
Notice is hereby given that the Charles County Planning Commission will conduct a Public Meeting on proposed Zoning Text Amendment (ZTA 16-144) and Subdivision Text Amendment (SRA 16-02) at their regularly scheduled meeting on February 13, 2017 at 6:00 p.m., in the County Commissioner’s Meeting Room located in the Charles County Government Building, La Plata, Maryland.
The purpose of the Zoning Text Amendments and the Subdivision Text Amendments are to establish that appeals of the Planning Commission decisions may be taken to the Board of Appeals; establishing that the Board of Appeals may not hear appeals of decisions of the County Commissioners; clarifying the notice requirements for hearings of special exceptions, variances and nonconforming uses; clarifying that the rights of aggrieved persons and interested persons apply to hearings of special exceptions, variances and nonconforming uses; clarifying that parties to decisions of administrative officials may take appeals to the Board of Appeals; establishing the scope of review of appeals heard by the board of Appeals as a review of the record of the decision being appealed; clarifying the remedies of the Board of Appeals in reviews of Planning commission decision; clarifying the burden of proof in appeals heard by the board of Appeals.
Citizens wishing to make oral or written comments are encouraged to attend the meeting. The file is available for review in the Department of Planning and Growth Management in the County Government Building, La Plata, Maryland.
