The Charles County Department of Health’s Core Service Agency, in conjunction with Partnerships for a Healthier Charles County, is offering a mental health first aid instructor training program.  The training will be held Monday, Oct. 1 through Friday, Oct. 5 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the College of Southern Maryland, Center for Business and Industry Building (8730 Mitchell Road, La Plata).

Course participants will:

  • Learn to teach the 12-hour mental health first aid course, including the five-step action plan.
  • Receive all materials necessary to teach and evaluate the course, including a complete instructor’s kit. Apply the program to a range of adult learning styles.
  • Tailor presentations to diverse audiences and learning environments.
  • Access ongoing technical assistance and support.
  • Join a statewide network of more than 150 mental health first aid instructors.
