PHOTO RELEASE: Commissioners Recognize AED Installation at County Facilities

On Tuesday, Aug. 1, the Board of Commissioners celebrated the installation of 54 Automated External Defibrillators (AED) in government buildings, community centers, local parks, and the Jude House (9505 Crain Hwy, Bel Alton).  The county secured a grant to purchase the AEDs, creating a savings of $18,900.

An AED is a portable electronic device that diagnoses life-threatening cardiac irregularities and treats the patient through defibrillation. Using an AED immediately after sudden cardiac arrest can increase the chance of survival by more than 90 percent.

PICTURED, left to right: Commissioner Ken Robinson (District 1); Dr. Roshanda Contee, The Jude House; Joane Gulvas, Safety Officer; John Filer, Department of Emergency Services; and Commissioner President Peter F. Murphy.
