Materials Accepted at Recycling Centers

The following items are accepted from residential sources free of charge.  Commercial sources must pay for disposal of all materials.

  • All Curbside Items – Tin and aluminum cans, glass bottles and jars, plastic bottles and jugs, newspaper, white papers, magazines, glossy inserts, telephone books, flattened cardboard. All materials can be mixed together.  Please visit A Bag's Life for locations where plastic bags and other plastic films are accepted.
  • Batteries – Household, cell, and auto.
  • Electronics – Computers, laptops, speakers, televisions, stereo equipment, DVD/VCR players, microwaves, cell phones.  Please hand cell phones to attendant on duty.  For safety and security reasons, only attendants are allowed in the electronics disposal area.
  • Oyster Shells - Oyster Shells (Thanks to a partnership with Oyster Recovery Partnership (ORP).
  • Scrap Metal - Appliances, bicycles, lawn mowers, metal furniture, etc.
  • Scrap Tires - Two residential tires per visit are accepted free of charge. Additional tires, bulk loads of tires, and commercial size tires must be weighed in on the landfill scales with applicable fee(s) being assessed.
  • Textiles - Clothing, linens, shoes. Useable items must be clean, dry, and bagged.
  • Used Cooking Oil – Waste oil from a deep fryer, frying pan, or wok (no material from grease traps). 
  • Used Motor Oil, Oil Filters and Antifreeze - Do not mix together; dispose empty containers in the trash. No brake fluids.
  • Yard Waste – 10 bag maximum at recycling centers. Plastic bags are prohibited. Larger amounts and pick-up truck loads of yard waste are only accepted at the compost yard within the landfill. Stumps are not accepted.
