This past weekend was a massive success, with over 55 participants joining us to master the art of sustainability. From diverting waste to managing stormwater, these residents are leading the way for a greener Charles County.

• Saving Every Drop: Julia Rycyna from the University of Maryland Extension Office led an expert session on the benefits of rain barrels. Beyond helping our local ecosystem, these participants learned how their new rain barrels can qualify them for a stormwater remediation fee tax credit.
• The Power of Composting: Timothy Emhoff from the Nanjemoy Creek Environmental Education Center showed us that "waste" is just a resource in the wrong place. Residents got a hands-on look at vermicomposting (composting with special worms!) and learned how to get the most out of the free Geobins provided to county residents by the Department of Public Works Environmental Resources Division.
