 ANIMAL MATTERS HEARING BOARD

FOR CHARLES COUNTY, MARYLAND

MINUTES OF MEETNG

Tuesday, June 2, 2015

 

 

The regularly scheduled meeting of the Animal Control Board for Charles County, Maryland, was convened by the Chairman at 6:30 p.m. in the County Commissioners Meeting Room, Charles County Government Building, with the following Board members in attendance.

A quorum was declared based upon the presence of a majority of the appointed Board Members.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
 

The minutes of the Animal Matters Hearing Board for May 19, 2015 were approved and adopted. 

 

            Citation No. 6474 – issued to Dorean Vauss, Sr., 1576 Pin Oak Drive, Waldorf,  Maryland 20601, for the alleged violations of Section 230.10.A,  230-12,  and Section 230.9.A of the Charles County Animal Regulations for  dogs “Sassy.”  Mr. Vauss was present at the hearing and not represented by counsel.  Testimony was heard from Officer Alison Budd and Mr. Vauss. Entered into evidence were seven photos marked AC Ex. 1.

Based on the testimony and evidence presented, Vice Chairman, made a motion to find Mr. Vauss in violation of  Section 230.10.A and Section 230.9.A, with a fine of $130.00 to be satisfied by June 16, 2015, obtain and current animal license and provide proof to the Office of the County Attorney and obey all laws for 18 months. A second was made and the vote passed unanimously.

 

 

Citation Nos. 6465 – issued to Jordan Barnes, 2307 Ashbrook Place, Suitland, Maryland 20746 for the alleged violation of Section 230.8.A. (8) (a)of the Charles County Animal Regulations for his dog “Tiffany.”  Mr. Barnes was present at the hearing and not represented by counsel.  Testimony was heard from Officer Alison Budd and Mr. Barnes.   Entered into evidence were two photos marked AC Ex. 1.

 

Based on the testimony and evidence presented, the Vice- Chair made a motion to find Mr. Barnes in violation of Section 230.8.A. (8) (a)  of the Charles County Animal Regulations for his dog “Tiffany” with a fine of $100.00 to be satisfied by June 16, 2015 and obey all laws for 18 months. A second was made and the vote passed unanimously.  

 

Citation Nos. 6462 and 6479 – issued to Dwaneia Smith, 16405 Crown Place, Hughesville, MD 20637 for the alleged violation of Section 230.10.A, Section 230.12, Section 230.9.A  for Citation No. 6474 and Section 230.10.A, Section 230.12, Section 230.9.A and Section  230.12.5 of the Charles County Animal Regulations for her dogs “Tula” and “Diva”. Ms. Smith was present at the hearing and not represented by counsel. Testimony was heard from Officer Kevin Earle and Kimberly Stephens (witness for County) and Dwaneia Smith and Ridarrio Smith. Entered into evidence were two current rabies certificates and two current animal licenses for “Tula” and “Diva.”

Based on the testimony and evidence presented, the Vice Chair made a motion to find Mr. and Mrs. Smith in violation of Section 230.10.A and Section 230.9.A for both citations and in violation of Section 230.12.5 for Citation No. 6479 with a total fine for both citations of $260.00 and that they comply with the requirements stated in Section 230.12.5.A 1, 2, 3 5 (a) and (b) and 8 of the Charles County Animal Regulations and obey all laws for 18 months. A second was made and the vote passed unanimously. Mr. and Mrs. Smith satisfied the $260.00 fine at the end of the hearing. 

 

 

 

There being no further business, the Chairman adjourned the hearing at 7:50 p.m.
