Meeting Minutes for the Commission on Individuals with Disabilities

Monday, August 19th, 2013

Meeting called to order:  3:10 p.m. by chair, Tony Silva.

Meeting Minutes approved:  Emily Ferren moved that the July 15th minutes be approved and Linda Clem seconded.  The July minutes were approved.

Membership Update:  Tony Silva provided an updated e-mail list of current members. 

The CIWD now has an official brochure.  Everyone should take a bunch and distribute where they deem to be the best places that people need to see them. 

Reports:  The speaker, Christina Bishop from Parks and Recreation in St. Mary’s County was not at the meeting as expected. When she is rescheduled, it will be announced.

Old Business: The Commission is still seeking an Individual for the Commission who has a disability.

New Business: 

August 20th: AIP TY Fair:  Stethem Educational Center 6 p.m.

August 25th: Epilepsy and Sickle Cell Disease Charity Motorcycle Ride Wayson’s Corner Park and Ride 11 a.m.

September 22nd:  Walkabout Abilities: Goucher College, Towson, 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

September 26th Disability Awareness Day:  Disability Awakening:  Seen and Unseen, American Legion, Hughesville, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.


  The meeting was adjourned at 3:53 p.m.

Next Meeting:

The next meeting will be held on September 16th, 2013 at 3 p.m. at the County Government Building. (Office of Joane Gulvas-B125)
