In Attendance: Amy Blandford, Sandra Dent, Emily Ferren, Robin Lincoln.
Excused: Joane Gulvas, Jim Howard, Nicky Pire and Tonya Kay Speer.
Guests: Two guests from Southern Maryland Center for Independent Living spoke after the meeting was adjoured as they had been stuck in traffic.
Meeting called to order at 3:08 p.m. by Chair Ferren. The meeting minutes from 1/26/15 were reviewed and approved by Sandra Dent. 2nd by Emily Ferren. The January minutes were approved.
We were able to contact Tonya Kay Speer at a new email address. She is interested in continuing with the Commission. She will work through some names for our website and let us know.
The ADA will be celebrating its 25th anniversary the week of July 26th.
The CIWD has decided to plan a celebration in the lobby of the Government building as we did before. We will provide information and some refreshments from 2-4 p.m. in the lobby of the government building, if we can.
Three members of the CIWD, Nicky, Sandra and Emily attended the Southern Maryland Transportation Forum on February 25th. The forum was held to discuss the various problems individuals and senior citizens have had with the transportation system.
The Special Olympics Charles Cuonty athletes did very well during the 2015 Winter Games. They won 20-25 gold, silver and bronze medals as well as many participation ribbons.
MSCIL participated in two Legislative days in Annapolis, March 3rd and April 1st.
Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind is taking applications for an Employment Specialist.
SCIL is taking applications for an Independent Living Specialist.
The next meeting will be April 20th, 3:00 p.m. at the Charles County Government Building, Office of the Safety Officer. Joane will be proving "Hands Only" CPR training.
