Ethics Commission for Charles County, Maryland
The Ethics Commission for Charles County, Maryland, convened on September 8, 2012, at 8:00 a.m., in the County Commissioners’ Conference Room, Charles County Government Building, La Plata, Maryland, for a special meeting. The following members of the Board were present: Rev. Robert Charles Buehler, Acting Chairman, Mary (Cathy) Haynes Warfield, Helen Heier and Curt Springer. Also in attendance was County Attorney Barbara Holtz and Gina Markovich, Paralegal, as clerk.
Upon a motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the Minutes of the July 31, 2012 meeting.
Upon a motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Commission went into closed session at 8:17 a.m. in accordance with State Government Article §10-508(a)(1) to discuss (i) The appointment, employment, assignment, promotion, discipline, demotion, compensation, removal, resignation, or performance evaluation of appointees, employees, or officials over whom it has jurisdiction; or (ii) Any other personnel matter that affects one or more specific individuals. The Commission approved closed session minutes from July 31, 2012 hearing.
The meeting re-opened at 8:19 a.m. The Board reviewed the Financial Disclosure Forms completed by all sixty-three (63) employees and forty –seven (47) board members. It was agreed that County Attorney Holtz would send a letter to those who have not completed the financial forms and to follow up with the twelve (12) forms which had questions or were incomplete.
The Board agreed to review other county ethics commissions Rules and Procedures and their Financial Disclosure form and to work on those items at the next meeting. The Clerk will send to the members before the next meeting copies of those items. The Board agreed to meet in October.
With no further business the meeting adjourned at 10:12 a.m.
