Home MenuImportant: You Must Go to All Court Hearings
Why it is important to go to court
You must go to all scheduled court hearings about your case. If you do not go, the court may take action against you.
What can happen if you miss a court date
- If you miss a court date, the family magistrate or judge may issue a warrant for your arrest (also called a body attachment)
- The court may make a decision without you
You may still need to go, even if you are up to date on payments
Even if you are up to date on your child support payments, you still need to go to court.
You may have been asked to come to court for other reasons, such as:
- Someone asked to change (modify) the order
- There is a question about paying medical expenses for your child
What to do if a warrant is issued
If a warrant is issued, you can turn yourself in at the Sheriff's office at any time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
