If you missed your court date, you must either:

  • Write and file a letter with the Clerk's Office, or
  • File a motion.

If you choose to file a motion, you can use your own or use this standard motion template as allowed by MD Rule 2-311.

How to write your letter or motion

  • Clearly say what you want the court to do and explain why.
  • Include any documents that support your request.
  • Be sure to include your current name, address, and phone number so the court can contact you about the decision.
