However, you must still appear in court unless a judge or magistrate approves your request in advance.


How to Request a New Court Date

You can request a postponement in one of these ways:

Option 1 - Write a Letter

  • Write a letter and file it with the Clerk's Office
  • Explain why you need to change your court date

Option 2 - File a Motion


What to Include in Your Request

Make sure your request clearly explains:

  • Why you need to reschedule
  • Any documents that support your request

Also provide your:

  • Current name
  • Current address
  • Phone Number

This helps the court contact you about its decision.
