Welcome to the Charles County Adult Drug Court

The Charles County Adult Drug Court (ADC) was created in 2022. It is a voluntary program that helps people with substance use disorders recover and avoid future legal trouble.

The program team includes:

  • A judge
  • Public defender
  • Assistant State's Attorney
  • Drug Court coordinator
  • Case manager
  • Probation officer
  • Law enforcement representative
  • Treatment provider

The program usually lasts 12 to 18 months.

During the program, participants:

  • Attend regular court hearings
  • Participate in frequent court oversight and supervision by a probation officer
  • Complete drug testing
  • Receive counseling (group, individual, and family)
  • Take part in educational opportunities or job training
  • Follow program rules, including rewards and sanctions

To graduate, participants must:

  • Complete all program phases
  • Follow their treatment plan and achieve the goals established in it
  • Stay free from drugs and alcohol (verified by testing)
  • Demonstrate financial stability by working, completing school or job training, or using other legal means of support
  • Manage their physical and mental health
  • Build a sober support network

If you successfully complete the program, your charges may be reduced, dismissed, or expunged.

  • Judges
  • Public defenders
  • State's Attorney's Office
  • Sheriff's Office
  • Detention Center
  • Probation Office
