When should I arrive?

Arrive no later than 9:00 a.m. unless your notice says a different time

Your case may not be called right away. You may need to stay all day.

In case the court needs you to stay into the afternoon, do not schedule any other activities that day.


What happens if I am late?

The court may:

  • Postpone your case
  • Dismiss your case

What happens if I miss my court date? 

Child support cases

If you do not appear for your court date as directed, the court may:
  • Issue a writ of attachment 
  • Start contempt proceedings

All other family cases

If you filed the case, petition, or motion:

If you do not appear for your court date as directed, the court may dismiss your case or filing.

If you did not file the case, petition, or motion:

If you do not appear for your court date as directed, the court may still hear the case without you.


Can I bring my child?

No. Do not bring children unless the court told you in advance to do so.


When should witnesses arrive?

All witnesses should arrive by 9:00 a.m.


What should I bring?

Required documents:

The court requires both parties to bring the following:

  • Your last 3 pay stubs
  • Your last 2 years of tax returns
  • Your most recent W-2 or 1099

Additional documents (if applicable): 

Bring these only if they apply to your situation:

  • Proof of child care costs
  • Proof of health insurance costs
  • Proof of Social Security or disability income
  • Proof of child support and/or alimony payments
  • Any other documents that support your case


What do I do when I get to the courtroom?

Check in with the courtroom clerk located at the front of the courtroom.
