WHAT IS A DIGITAL AUDIO RECORDING?  
A digital audio recording is an CD generated from the original recording and provided for listening purposes and verification of testimony only.    

CAN I USE THE AUDIO RECORDING (CD) AS THE OFFICIAL COURT RECORD?  
No, CDs may not be used as the official court record in the place of a written transcript.  Written transcripts cannot be produced using CDs.  Only written transcripts prepared and certified by the court are deemed official and can be admitted as evidence.  

HOW DO I REQUEST A CD?
To request a CD of an audio recording, complete the request form at the bottom of this tab.  You can either deliver to the Clerk's Office or mail your request to:

WHAT IS THE COST FOR A CD?  
Audio recordings are $25.00 per hearing date.  The court must receive payment in full before processing your order. 

There are two options for payment:

  1. Check or Money Order:  Payment by check or money order can be submitted to the Court Reporting Coordinator located at the courthouse.  Checks and money orders should be made payable to County Commissioners of Charles County.  
        
  2. Cash or Credit Card:  You may also pay by cash or credit card at the Treasurer's Office located at the County Government Building, 200 Baltimore Street, La Plata, Maryland 20646.  Once payment is made at the Treasurer's Office, take the receipt to the Court Reporting Coordinator located in the courthouse.

HOW WILL I KNOW WHEN MY CD IS READY?  
You will receive a phone call or email from the Court Reporting Coordinator to inform you the CD is ready for pickup. 

CAN THE COURT MAIL ME THE CD?  
No, unfortunately the court cannot mail you the CD.  You must pick it up in person or designate someone to pick up the CD on your behalf.

WHERE DO I GO TO PICK UP MY CD?  
You can pick up your CD from the Court Administration Office located on the first floor, first hallway on the right.

I FORGOT TO GET MY CD, IS IT STILL AVAILABLE FOR PICK UP?  
Completed orders left in the Court Administration Office longer than 30 days will be destroyed and your payment forfeited.
