What this program does
The Adult Drug Court Program helps people with substance use disorders recover and avoid further involvement in the criminal justice system.
Who can join (all must apply)
Participants must meet all of the following:
- Be an adult who lives in Charles County
- Have a Circuit Court case and have already entered a plea
- Be diagnosed with a substance use disorder
- Be identified as having a higher risk of reoffending and higher treatment needs
How the program works
This is a voluntary program with four phases. Participants receive structured support from a team that includes the court and service providers.
Services provided
Participants may receive:
- Mental health and substance use treatment
- Physical health support
- Educational and job training opportunities
- Pro-social (positive community) activities
- Life skills training
These services address the underlying causes of substance use and criminal behavior.
