Charles County Government both receives grants from designated private, state, regional, or federal agencies and appropriates budget funds annually to provide services to County residents through awards to non-profit agencies.

By authority of the Board of County Commissioners, responsibility for management of the non-profit grants award program rests with the Committee for a Charles County Charitable Trust.

For further information, contact Vivian Mills, Executive Director, 301-934-3700 or The Trust has an office located at 9375 Chesapeake Street, La Plata.

Charles County Government actively pursues grant funding from a variety of federal, state, and foundation sources as part of a mixed-funding approach to support County programs and operations that serve the public. Funds from grants serve a wide variety of needs in the community, from providing necessary citizen services such as housing assistance and programs for seniors, to funding capital needs such as parks and public transportation.

In Fiscal Year 2019, the County expended $17,050,821 from 83 Federal funding sources, $9,732,585 from 89 State grants and $718,776 from 7 miscellaneous foundation and other governmental contractual agreements.
