The Charles County Board of Elections will conduct canvassing of ballots for the 2020 Presidential Primary Election commencing on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at 9:00 AM. The canvass will be conducted at the Charles County Public Library – Waldorf West.
The library is closed to the public, so public viewing of the canvass will be done by live stream on YouTube.com. You may view one, or all, of the cameras at any point in the canvassing process. Simply click on the link of any or all cameras that you would like to watch. There are three different cameras as follows:
Camera 1 - Canvassing Room Opening Ballots - check schedule here for canvass proceedings by day.
Scanning ballots is contingent upon the amount of ballots opened the previous day.
Camera 2 - Canvassing Room Scanning Ballots- check schedule here for canvass proceedings by day.

Camera 3 - This camera will be used by the Board of Canvassers to vote on ballots that are referred to them. The Board of Canvassers will vote to accept or reject the ballot. The Board of Canvassers will vote on ballots at 3:00 PM each day that ballots are being scanned. If there is no scanning of ballots scheduled there will be no meeting of the board of canvassers.

Audio will be provided through Google Hangouts Meetings. Any questions that the public may have will be answered by the Election Director or her designee. Every day will have the same call in information as provided below.

Challenging a Ballot
The public may challenge ballots during a canvass. This process usually takes place on the decision of the Board on a ballot. The challenge must be made at the time the ballot or provisional ballot application is presented for acceptance or rejection. An observer can indicate an intention to file a challenge verbally or via chat, text, or email. A completed challenge form must be submitted within 1 hour of indicating an intent to challenge. All scheduled election judge training for the week of March 16, 2020 through March 20, 2020 is postponed until further notice.

At the October 10, 2019 at 9 a.m. meeting, the Charles County Board of Elections Supervisors approved to change the early voting site from La Plata Firehouse to Sacred Heart Church Friendship Hall.
At the State Board of Elections board meeting held on October 31, 2019 at 2:30 pm, the State Board of Elections unanimously approved the early voting site change from La Plata Firehouse to Sacred Heart Church Friendship Hall.
