Enactment of Bill 2017-03 and Bill 2017-04

WATERSHED CONSERVATION DISTRICT

The Charles County Commissioners enacted Bills 2017-03 (ZTA 16-142) and 2017-04 (ZMA 16-54), for the purpose of amending the Zoning Ordinance to rezone 9,481 properties located on 35,162.17 acres in the northwestern part of Charles County in order to create a new Watershed Conservation District (WCD) Zoning Category on the Official Zoning Maps. The bills implement the direction and intent of the Comprehensive Plan and establish development standards and criteria pertinent to the new zoning district. The new Watershed Conservation District is generally located south of Prince George’s County abutting the Charles County boundary in several locations; extending west to the Potomac River; extending east to the Old Washington Road and south to the boundary of the Rural Conservation zone, and generally north of State Highway 6.

Bills 2017-03 and 2017-04 become effective on July 21, 2017.
