Water and Sewer Operations and Maintenance

Semyon (Sam) Simanovsky
Chief of Operations and Maintenance

The Operations and Maintenance Section of Utilities is divided into three regions where staff are responsible for all County water and wastewater facilities.

The majority of our staff are environmental operators licensed by the State who have completed a minimum of three years of on-the-job training and passed a rigorous written exam administered by the State of Maryland Board of Certification. There are separate certification exams for water and wastewater, but it is the goal of Charles County to cross-train and certify all operators in both fields.

Following certification, continuing education credits are required for all license renewals to ensure that skills and knowledge are always up-to-date to better serve our customers. Our staff are available around the clock to respond to the needs of our customers, to protect our environment, and to provide quality drinking water.

The Department of Public Works - Utilities is pleased to present the 2018 Water Quality Reports (Consumer Confidence Reports) for systems operated by the Department of Public Works - Utilities.  Clicking on the above link will open a new window where you may select, view and print the Water Quality Report.  A PDF document viewer is required to view and print these reports.
