Today the Town of La Plata will host the annual Salute to Veteran’s Parade. Please be aware of the following road closures that will occur at approximately 12:45pm and the parade will begin at 1:00pm. Motorist are encourage to use caution in the area and use alternate routes: -No parking on La Grange Avenue -Crain Highway at Charles Street. Traffic needing to go eastbound on Charles Street should use Glen Albin Road and follow detour signs. -Washington Avenue southbound will be shut down at Cecil Street and traffic will be diverted to Kent Avenue. Only local traffic will be permitted. -Charles Street westbound will be shutdown at Kent Avenue. Traffic needing to go north or westbound should use Kent Avenue. Traffic needing to go southbound should use Oak Avenue. -All of La Grange Avenue and Queen Anne Street will be closed to all traffic. -St. Mary’s Avenue northbound will be shut down at Queen Anne Street. Traffic will be diverted behind Sacred Heart Church to Centennial Street. -Centennial Street at Crain Highway will be shut down for incoming traffic. Traffic will still be permitted outbound to Crain Highway. -Centennial Street between Maple Avenue and St. Mary’s Avenue will be closed. -Carroll Street at La Grange Avenue will be closed. -Charles Street at St. Mary’s Avenue will be shutdown.
