The Maryland Recycling Act (MRA) requires Charles County to recycle at least 35% of the waste generated in the County. Charles County has maintained one of the highest recycling rates in the state. The County's recycling rate for the year 2022 was 49.69%.
Businesses that recycle material generated in Charles County provide valuable contributions to this rate. Businesses that self-report their recycling amounts assist in maintaining our recycling rate.
